This package is ideal for the typical student applying to either a) the UCs which all share the UC application or b) private and out of state colleges all sharing the Common Application (note: each private or out-of-state college may require one or more extra, school-specific essays). If you’re applying to colleges using both the Coalition and Common Applications, adding an extra hour or two is likely all you need to adapt your Common Application content for the Coalition Application.

Who is This Package Too Small For?

*UC Applicants with Certain Majors: Traditionally, you don't have supplemental essays, but the UC application is 7 pages long, compared to the 4 page Common Application. Therefore, if you are majoring in engineering, film, a creative or performing art, or another major which requires you to write up a creative portfolio and/or major-specific supplemental essays, then the Complete Package may be a better fit for you. We can helped you assess this before you sign up based on your major and any supplemental materials required.

**Common Applicants: The 10 hours helps most students complete the main Common Application plus one to three types of extra, supplemental essays. Note: the same types of supplemental essay prompts are often shared by different colleges, allowing you to get more mileage out of your Express Package. Colleges ranked top 20 to 200 tend to (almost unanimously) have identical supplemental essay prompts that can be distinctly recycled. However, colleges ranked 1 to 15 tend to have more numerous and non-overlapping prompts that require more attention. Therefore, before you sign up, we can provide an estimate based on your college list whether the Express or Complete Package is more fitting for your overlap opportunities.

Expectations:

The 10 hours help most students finish either (A) the entire UC Application (7 pages of writing) or (B) the entire Common Application (4 pages of writing), plus letters of recommendation and 1 to 3 extra school specific essays that particular Common Application member colleges may require. Once the hours are exhausted, additional hours may be purchased at the rate of $300/hr. You can also add hours if you ultimately decide to apply to more colleges than expected. In this event, we’d be happy to provide a quote on how many extra hours you’re likely to need based on how much overlap exists in the extra supplemental essays you add.
